OCHO RIOS, Jamaica, May 3, 2015 - Praises have been flowing in
from all corners of the volleyball community for JaVA’s
organization of the ongoing CAZOVA Women Beach Olympic Qualifier
being held at Ocho Rios Bay Beach.
President of the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation, Cristobal
Marte Hoffiz, in a letter to Vincente Araujo, President of the
FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission, described the level of
organization of the hosted by the JaVA as “simply amazing”.
Marte Hoffiz, who is also the FIVB First Vice President further
stated, “it is difficult for me to describe the proud feeling
that I am experiencing with the result of the NORCECA
Continental Volleyball Cup being held in Jamaica at the Ocho
Rios Bay Beach. The standards are truly above what is expected
from this event, specifically coming from a Category II National
Federation of NORCECA.....A Continental Beach Volleyball Cup
event at the level of an FIVB Open – Simply Amazing.”
President of CAZOVA, Mushtaque Mohammed, in a telephone call to
Major Warrenton Dixon, a CAZOVA Vice President who is overseeing
the tournament on behalf of NORCECA, encouraged that JaVA
immediately consider hosting the second round of qualifiers as
well.
“The standard is indeed great and the court layout can meet all
international standards; the electronic advertising boards has
added a new standard for us in this region in beach volleyball,”
he followed up in an email.
Sandrina Hunsel, the Suriname team star player commented, “it is
a very well organized tournament- the beach environment is
beautiful, the mix of cultures and opportunities to make new
friends is great, meals are served in good quality and on time
and the room at Rooms (on the Beach) is good. Similar sentiments
have been expressed by other players and officials who are
guests of JaVA at the tournament.
Returning residents from London, England, now living in St Anns,
Mr. and Mrs. Neal and Angelina Deans, labeled the tournament as
“excellent and exceptional!”
“We are very impressed....but we believe we can help JaVA to
capture some of the marketing opportunities you lost in this
event,” they volunteered in a chat with the JaVA President,
Rudolph Speid.
A dental surgeon in the St Anns Bay area, Dr. Wendy
Chuck-Francis stated, “JaVA is doing a wonderful job in using
volleyball as a medium for the release of positive energy to and
by our youths.”
She further remarked that “this is a great opportunity for
Corporate Jamaica, including the media, to come on board to
increase the awareness of this another great sport.”
She also expressed the view that volleyball presents the Youth
and Culture Ministry to harness the resourcefulness of Jamaican
youths.
JaVA has truly set tongues wagging after accepted the challenge
of hosting the qualifier only six weeks ago after the Regional
and Confederation bodies tried without success to secure a host
for almost six months. |
