President of FIVB visits Baja California High Performance Center
Tijuana, Mexico, October 31, 2013 – The FIVB President Dr. Ary
Graça toured the facilities of the Baja California High
Performance Center where he got a first-hand impression about
the way the local authorities work with their young talents
program.
Dr. Graça was accompanied by the General Director of the Baja
California Sports and Physical Education Institute Saul Castro
Verdugo and Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, First Executive Vice
President of FIVB and President of NORCECA Confederation.
“It is a learning experience for me, you keep learning new
things every day,” Dr. Graça said. “In Brazil we also have a
training center, but this one is different, because is a state
center and it functions well, something to admire.”
Castro Verdugo presented Dr. Graça with tangible evidence of the
achievements attained by local athletes in national competitions
and the FIVB President had the opportunity to salute some of the
players who formed part of the Mexican teams in the U-20 women’s
and U-19 Boys World Championships this year.
“We saw boys and girls training, working in their respective
sports, preparing and I also took a look at the school they are
attending,” he said. “This is what the governments should do in
all the countries, to pledge with sport, health and education.”
During the visit, Dr. Graça also visited the athlete’s village
and had the chance to watch some videos of the competitions of
the last National Olympics where the athletes of Baja California
had a relevant performance.
The FIVB President is in Tijuana on the occasion of the XXII
NORCECA Congress to be held on November 2-3 preceded by a
Development and Sport Management Seminar on November 1 for
National Federations Category I and II. |
