President of JOC visits Volleyball Arena

TOKYO, Japan, July 28, 2021 – The president of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Mr. Yasuhiro Yamashita, paid a visit to Ariake Arena, site of the volleyball competitions of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Mr. Yamashita was received at the facility by Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, first executive vice president of FIVB, who is the international technical delegate in charge of supervising the tournaments of both genders currently running.

The president of the JOC and Mr. Marte Hoffiz posed for the photographers covering the matches that began on July 25 and will continue until August 8 with the medal matches of the women’s tournament. The men’s medal matches will be played on August 7.

Teams from twelve countries are competing in each tournament, divided into two pools of six teams with the top four at the end of a pools’ round-robin advancing to the quarterfinals.
