SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 10, 2016 - Paulina Prieto Cerame has
returned to her home country to help Puerto Rico prepare for the
Olympic Qualifying Tournament that begins on May 20 and runs to
May 22.
Hosts Puerto Rico will battle it out with Algeria, Colombia and
Kenya for a spot in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
Prieto Cerame arrived on Saturday after completing her
commitments at the University of Texas. The opposite was
received at the airport by Vice President of the Puerto Rican
Volleyball Federation, Elliot Matthias.
“I’m very happy to be in Puerto Rico and eager to get back into
training with my teammates on the national team,” she said.
Prieto Cerame started training with her teammates on Monday at
the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan.
The opposite is coming off an outstanding collegiate volleyball
season with the University of Texas, making it into the
“All-American” second team.
“I want to encourage all volleyball fans to support us by coming
to the Roberto Clemente Coliseum and be part of history en route
to the Olympics in Brazil," Prieto Cerame said.
Kenya and Colombia start the Qualifying Tournament on May 20,
followed by Puerto Rico against Algeria. On May 21, African
giants Kenya and Algeria face off, while Puerto Rico take on
Colombia. On the final day, Algeria will meet Colombia, and
Puerto Rico will play Kenya. |
