Puerto Rican Youth Olympic talent to compete in Boqueron

 

BOQUERON, Puerto Rico, September 15 2014.- Lina Bernier and Valeria Cajigas, who finished ninth at the II Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing 2014, will compete at the VIII NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit, to be played in Boqueron, the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation Confirmed.

 

Along with Bernier and Cajigas, Sergio Figueroa, who finished fifth at Nanjing Games, will take action at the tour, that is scheduled from September 19th thru the 21st.

 

This time the Puerto Rican Youth Olympic athlete will play along Arnel Cabrera, after his partner Daniel “Danny” Cabrera is studying in the United States.

 

Also the duo of Roberto ‘Rafu’ Rodríguez and Erick Haddock is expected to play to lead the male competition as part of the host country.

 

“After the success of our youth couples in Nanjing, this is a great opportunity to enjoy their participation and their talent at the NORCECA competition in Boqueron. There is no coubt, that this will be a great event,” said the President of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation, Nelson Perez Cruz.

 

The tour stop will be played at the Central American Stadium in Boqueron Beach. “One more time we count on with the support of Honorable Bobby Ramirez, Mayor of Cabo Rojo and the 2010 Foundation, directed by Jorge Sosa,” Perez Cruz added.

 

“It will be such a great opportunity to see the best beach volleyball talent in the region with most of the reams that wil compete at the Central American Games of Mexico.”

 

The Technical Director of the event, Arnaldo Sanchez confirmed that a total of 16 teams in both genders will participate. “This is one of the most expected stops of the tour, players know where they will compete and how they are treated in Cabo Rojo, that’s why everybody wants to come to the tournament,” Sanchez said.

 

For this stop of the tour the teams of Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Mexico, The United States of America and U.S. Virgin Islands will play on both genders.

 

Dominican Republic, Honduras and Trinidad and Tobago will take part in Women’s competition only, while Aruba, Guadeloupe and Nicaragua will play only with Men’s teams. An official press conference is scheduled on Tuesday at Boqueron Recreational Center. Matches will be broadcasted by DirecTV in Puerto Rico.
