SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, August 25, 2017 – Puerto Rican legend
Aury Cruz is making the transition to beach volleyball after a
long career as member of the Puerto Rican Volleyball National
Team and player in several foreign leagues.
Cruz has been confirmed by the head of beach volleyball coaches
Enrique “Kike” Perez as member of the team that will represent
Puerto Rico at the next NORCECA Circuit event to take place in
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic,
“She had expressed her interest to make the move and has been
working out very well for the past two weeks,” Pérez said. “She
is a natural player and I know she will make a smooth transition
from indoor to beach without difficulties.”
Cruz will team up with Ashley Vasquez who already has seen
action at the 2017 Continental Circuit playing last April in
Cayman Islands where she finished eighth.
Over the last week both players have been working full time with
national coach Alexis Feliciano at the Ocean Park Beach in San
Juan.
Cruz made her debut with the national team playing at the
NORCECA Continental Championship in 1997 and announced her
retirement after playing at Rio Olympic Games last year. |
