Win Gold in Juan Dolio
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 18, 2025.- Puerto Ricans
Allanis Navas and María González claimed the gold medal after
defeating Mexico’s Susana Torres and Atenas Rodríguez in a thrilling
match 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) in the second stage of the 2025 NORCECA
Beach Volleyball Continental Tour, held on the beach of Juan Dolio
in the Dominican Republic.
The bronze medal went to Mexico’s Yeray Vidaurruzaga and María
Ramírez, who bounced back after dropping the first set to defeat
Corine Quiggle and Megan Rice from the United States 2-1 (18-21,
21-19, 15-12).
Fifth place was claimed by Canada’s Maya McNabney and Emma Kunaus,
who needed three sets to overcome Dominicans Yari Cleto and Crismil
Paniagua 2-1 (21-12, 20-22, 15-13).
In the match for seventh place, Americans Kelly Kool and Tiffany
Svenssohn outlasted Dominican duo Julibeth Payano and Bethania
Almanzar 2-1 (21-19, 18-21, 15-8), while Canada’s Emily Anderson and
Amanda Harnett secured ninth place by defeating Nicaragua’s Socorro
López and Lolette Rodríguez 2-0 (21-13, 21-7).
Eleventh place went to Melanie Valenciana and T’ara Austin of the
U.S. Virgin Islands, who beat Cayman Islands’ Deajra Tulloch and
Maryn McCoombs 2-0 (21-17, 21-12). Venezuela’s Oriana Granadilla and
Reibeth Artigas claimed 13th place after a 2-0 (21-19, 21-13)
victory over Costa Rica’s Aliza Aguilar and Sofía Vega.
El Salvador’s Donnina Argueta and Keiry Guzmán finished in 15th
place with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-4) win over Trinidad and Tobago’s Meeka
Johnson and Paige Alexander, while Guatemala’s Laura Quiñones and
Naomi Monney took 17th place. |
