Quintero in one of the semifinals matches on
Sunday at La Paz Beach Volleyball Tournament.
The other semifinal will see Americans Megan
Gebhard and Savannah Simo against compatriots
Kaytlin Malaney and Carly Kan.
In the quarterfinals round, Gonzalez/Navas beat
Canadians Maud Chapleau and Shanice Marcelle 2-0
(21-12, 21-11) while Gutierrez/Quintero crushed
fellow Mexicans Abril Flores and Esperanza
Albarran 2-0 (21-10, 21-14).
Gebhard/Simo downed Canadians Anna Feore and
Anna Licht 2-0 (21-12, 21-13) while Malaney/Kan
breezed past Mexicans María Ibarra and Alejandra
Villavicencio 2-0 (21-11, 21-12).
Chapleau/Marcelle advanced to the quarterfinals
with a 2-0 (21-10, 21-11) over Taylor
Buckner/Cristina Almeida of U.S. Virgin Islands
while Feore/Licht defeated Jamaica’s Chauna
Kelly and Petal Smith 2-0 (21-13, 24-22). Also,
Ibarra/Villavicencio edged Salvadorans Yvonne
Soler and Laura Molina 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 15-12)
and Flores/Albarrán defeated Guatemalans Natalia
Girón and Paola Alvarado 2-0 (21-16, 21-13). |
