Puerto Rico announces 14 players for Pan American Cup
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, June 8, 2017 – The Puerto Rican
Volleyball Federation announced the roster of 14 players
included in the women’s national team to play in the XVI Pan
American Cup.
The players were introduced during a press conference held at
Old San Juan Sheraton Hotel in the Puerto Rican capital.
The team includes the names of Natalia Valentin, Daly Santana
and Shara Venegas who were part of the Puerto Rican squad that
played at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games last year.
“Our goal is to do a good job at the cup and secure our
qualification to the Grand Prix in 2018 and also to test some
new talented players towards the new cycle,” commented head
coach Javier Gaspar.
The rest of the team consists of Shirley Ferrer, Ana Sofía
Jusino, Alba Hernández, Janeliss Torres, Valeria León, Adriana
Viña, Pilar M. Victoriá, Noami Santos, Jennifer Quesada,
Raymariely Santos and Genesis Collazo.
Gaspar will be assisted by Abdell Otero, Héctor Reyes, Vimarys
Cruz and José Luis López.
At the Pan American Cup to be held in Peru from June 15 to 26,
Puerto Rico will compete in Pool B with United States,
Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela. |
