SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 8,
2021 – Puerto Rico defeated Suriname 3-1 (25-16,
20-25, 28-26, 27-25) in the match for fifth
place at the Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup
on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Suriname showed improvement
with the tournament taking one set off Puerto
Rico and sending the last two into extra points.
Diego Negron led five Puerto Ricans in double
figures with 15 points. Elias Rodriguez and
Pedro Molina tallied 13 and 11 while Sebastián
Negrón and Ismael Alomar each tallied 10 points.
Keven Sporkslede and David Pinas were the top
scorers of the match with 22 and 20 points,
respectively, even though both played for the
losing side.
