Puerto Rico open training camp in Japan
SAITAMA, Japan, September 23, 2018 – The Puerto Rican women’s
national team went through its first working sessions to start
the training camp in the city of Saitama.
The squad arrived in Saitama on Saturday night where they will
finish the preparation ahead of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball
World Championship that kicks off on September 29.
“We had three working sessions, two in court and one of
weightlifting,” said Coach Jose Mieles. “The group worked out
really well in the different drills. The evening session was
dedicated to the technical and tactical plan.”
Puerto Rico will play three friendly matches against Ageo
Medics, a team that plays in the Japanese V League.
The Puerto Ricans will travel to Hamamatsu, host city of Pool D,
on September 27 and two days later will debut in the world
championship against Brazil. The other teams in the pool are
Kazakhstan, Kenya, Serbia and Dominican Republic. |
