CALLAO, Peru, June 14, 2015 – Puerto Rico cruised to a
				straight-set victory 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-10) for their first
victory in Pool A of the XVI Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup
at Miguel Grau Coliseum of Callao.

The team captained by Yarimar Rosa looked solid outclassing the
Costa Rican side in every aspect of the game with advantages in
attacks (46-21), blocking (10-4) and serving aces (6-0).

Puerto Rican Stephanie Enright was the top scorer of the match
with 19 points, followed by compatriot Yarimar Rosa with 15
points. Marcela Araya topped the Costa Rican squad with 9 points
				in the loss.

Yarimar Rosa, captain of Puerto Rico: “Today all the girls
fulfilled the plan. We are very happy with the victory but at
the same time we need to maintain the rhythm of the game because
our goal is to get one of the medals.”

Araya, the captain of Costa Rica: “We really made too many
errors and we didn’t come through in anything we wanted to do.
We have to improve our communication and recover our team
				spirit.”

Braulio Godinez, coach of Costa Rica: “Puerto Rico didn’t give
us any options. It was very complicated to face a team with such
solid attack and potent services. This is a very strong
competition and we are going through a revamping process.”

Jose Mieles, coach of Puerto Rico: “Today we corrected the
mistakes we made yesterday. We gave playing time to some girls
and they responded well. We have to keep the focus because our
goal is to win a medal and also qualify to next year’s Grand
				Prix.” |
