SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 14, 2016 – Puerto Rico will play
hosts to the NORCECA First Invitational Junior Beach Volleyball
Tournament after receiving the authorization from the presidency
of the confederation.
The event will take place from August 10-14 at the Central
American Stadium in Boquerón, Cabo Rojo. The president of
NORCECA, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, granted the permission
requested by the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation to hold the
event.
“The director of the beach volleyball council (Arnaldo Sánchez)
presented us with the idea and we noted that it goes hand by
hand with the age-group events to be played in July,” said
Elliot Matías, vice president of the Puerto Rican Volleyball
Federation.
“These are the steps towards the development of our future beach
volleyball and we didn’t think twice to request the hosting of
the event,” Matías added.
The invitational tournament will be a double gender event
without limits to the number of pairs participating from the
countries from North, Central America and the Caribbean.
“This is project that will be the first step towards having
age-group events in NORCECA,” Sánchez said. “Thanks to the
confidence from FPV and NORCECA we will be able to organize the
event. As always, we already have the support from Cabo Rojo and
its mayor Bobby Ramírez and the 2010 Foundation.” |
