Puerto Rico to play Mexico for ticket to Poland
PONCE, Puerto Rico, May 24, 2014 – Hosts Puerto Rico defeated
Bahamas 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 to conclude the preliminary phase of
the NORCECA Men’s World Championship Qualification Tournament
Pool R with a spotless record on Saturday.
Puerto Rico now meets Mexico on Sunday in a match to determine
the winners of the ticket to the final stage of the world
championship in Poland.
Bahamas battled point by point for the most part of the first
two sets before going down against the more experienced Puerto
Rico.
“When we established consistency with our serves, we took
advantage of our game,” Puerto Rico’s coach David Aleman said.
“Bahamas is a team that has improved its game.”
“We need to continue playing hard and consistently to reach our
goal of qualifying to the world championship,” Puerto Rican
Angel Perez stated.
Raymond Wilson, coach of Bahamas: “I can say the boys went out
to play and had good moments. We played two good matches against
high level teams and that encourage us to continue working in
our development as a team.” |
