CAROLINA, Puerto Rico, July 5, 2015 - Bulgaria hold out a Puerto
Rico thrilling come back in a five setter, to win 3-2 (19-25,
25-27, 25-20, 25-18, 14-16) over the hosting team at the World
Grand Prix in pool K.
Bulgaria finished the weekend as a third team of the pool K with
3 points, while Puerto Rico remained a leader with 7 points
despite the loss.
The top scorers of the winning team were Eva Yaneva with 22 and
Yuliya Stoyanova with 20, while Puerto Ricans were led by Karina
Ocasio, who was the best scorer of the match with 26
points. Stephanie Enright and Aurea Cruz had 22 and 20 points,
respectively, in the losing effort.
Poland finished the battles in Pool K of FIVB Volleyball World
Grand Prix 2015 Group 2 in Puerto Rico with a victory over
Canada by 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 28-26, 25-17) to secure at least
the second place in the pool.
Tamara Kaliszuk contributed 21 points for the winning side,
while teammate Zuzanna Efimienko impressed with 10 kill blocks
for a total of 16 points in the match. Tabitha Love was
Canada’s top scorer with 20 points.
In Group 3, Colombia claimed the top spot on Pool P final
rankings with a 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 27-25) victory over
Cuba despite the fantastic performance of Cuba’s Melissa Vargas
in Trujillo, Peru.
Vargas topped the scorers’ chart of the match with an amazing 31
points, while Amanda Coneo with 19 points and Cindy Maria
Ramirez with 18 were most prolific for Colombia.
Also in Group 3, Mexico’s Dulce Carranza scored a game-high 23
points that helped her team to a 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-19,
25-22) win over Australia in Pool Q in Cheraga, Algeria. |
