Punta Cana proposed as next venue of World Congress
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 6, 2016 - The 35th FIVB World
Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina ended on Thursday after
Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic was proposed as the venue
for the 36th edition which is scheduled to take place from
October 27-28, 2018.
The FIVB World Congress, the federation's supreme governing
body, is held every two years. The 2018 edition of the FIVB
Congress will be the first edition to be held in the Dominican
Republic.
The proposal was presented by Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
president of NORCECA Confederation, and was received with
enthusiasm by the delegates representing 200 national
federations.
The Barcelo Punta Cana Convention Center, in the eastern region
of the Dominican Republic, has played host to several NORCECA
Congresses over the past decade.
In 2010, the FIVB Board of Administration and Executive
Committee meetings took place in the famous tourism resort.
