Quarterfinal Matchups Set in the 2025 LVSM; Caribes

and Cafeteros Advance Directly to the Semifinals

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, December 17, 2025. – Following the conclusion of the regular season of the Liga de Voleibol Superior Masculina (LVSM), the Quarterfinal matchups have been determined.

In Tuesday’s action, the Caribes de San Sebastián defeated the Mets de Guaynabo on the road at the Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum by scores of 25-23, 25-14, 21-25, and 25-16.

The Cafeteros de Yauco swept the Changos de Naranjito 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) at the legendary Gelito Ortega court.

The Indios de Adjuntas closed out their season with a home victory at the Rafael Llull Coliseum, defeating the Gigantes de Carolina 3-1 (27-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22).

In an exciting showdown, the Patriotas de Lares and the Plataneros de Corozal battled through five sets, with the Plataneros prevailing 19-25, 29-27, 25-20, 23-25, and 15-11.

Qualification to the Quarterfinals

- The top six teams from the Regular Season qualify.

- The teams finishing in 1st place (Caribes de San Sebastián, 19-2 record and 51 points) and 2nd place (Cafeteros de Yauco, 17-4 and 46 points) earn a direct berth to the Semifinals.

- Teams finishing from 3rd to 6th place will compete in the Quarterfinals in two series:

-          Series A: 3rd place Plataneros de Corozal (15-6, 42 points) vs. 6th place Changos de Naranjito. Home-court advantage for the 3rd-place team.

-          Series B: 4th place Patriotas de Lares (12-9, 37 points) vs. 5th place Gigantes de Carolina (7-14, 23 points). Home-court advantage for the 4th-place team.

- The series will be played in a best-of-three format (first team to two wins advances).

- The points system will not be used; only wins and losses will count.

- The Indios de Adjuntas and Mets de Guaynabo were eliminated from postseason contention.

- Friday, December 19 – Series A: Changos de Naranjito at Plataneros de Corozal – Carmen Z. Figueroa Court

- Saturday, December 20 – Series B: Gigantes de Carolina at Patriotas de Lares – Félix Méndez Acevedo Coliseum

- Sunday, December 21: Plataneros de Corozal at Changos de Naranjito – Gelito Ortega Court

- Monday, December 22: Patriotas de Lares at Gigantes de Carolina – Guillermo Angulo Coliseum

- Tuesday, December 23: Changos de Naranjito at Plataneros de Corozal – Carmen Z. Figueroa Court (if necessary)

- Friday, December 26: Gigantes de Carolina at Patriotas de Lares – Félix Méndez Acevedo Coliseum (if necessary)

Semifinals

- Series 1: 1st place vs. winner of Series B

- Series 2: 2nd place vs. winner of Series A

- Home-court advantage for the teams that finished 1st and 2nd.

- Best-of-seven series (first team to four wins advances).

- The points system will not be used.

Final Series

- Contested by the winners of Semifinal Series 1 and 2.

- Best-of-seven format.

- The team with the better Regular Season record will open the series at home.

- Venues will alternate game by game.

- If a seventh game is necessary, it will be played at a neutral venue with a minimum capacity of 5,000 spectators.
