Quarterfinals Set in NORCECA Men's Beach Volleyball Tour in Managua

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, June 14, 2024. - Two USA teams, and one each from Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Virgin Islands, and Guatemala, have advanced to the quarterfinals of the fourth stop of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour, being played at the Paseo Xolotlán court in Managua.

In quarterfinals, Timothy Brewster and Kyle Friend (USA) will face Edgar Maldonado and Luis García (GUA); Diego Perez and Ryan Lerna (USA) goes against Kendall Ratter and Marc Lomeli (ISV); William Rivera and Arnaldo Torres (PUR) meet Rouzbeh Rahnavard and Tynan Gannett (CAN) and Rubén Mora and Danny López (NCA) face Daniel Dyner and Julián Araya (CRC)

The local team, Mora/López, topped pool A with two straight-set victoriesm2-0 (21-8, 21-12) over Zendai Richard/Clerique Ward (SKN) and 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) over Edgar Maldonado/Luis García (GUA). Before facing Mora/López, Maldonado/García won a close contest 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 16-14) against Richard/Ward.

Timothy Brewster and Kyle Friend (USA) dominated pool B, winning 2-0 (21-14, 21-12) against Denis Lopez/Alexander Meneses (NCA), 2-0 (21-14, 21-14) over Daniel Dyner/Julián Araya (CRC), and a forfeit win against the Cayman Islands team (Jesario Ebanks/Stephen Watson). Dyner/Araya (CRC) secured the second spot in the group by defeating Lopez/Meneses (NCA) 2-1 (22-20, 18-21, 16-14).

Diego Perez and Ryan Lerna (USA) won all three of their matches in pool C to advance. They first defeated Rouzbeh Rahnavard and Tynan Gannett (CAN) 2-0 (21-17, 21-11), then David Vargas and Gabriel Vargas from El Salvador 2-0 (21-11, 21-18), and finally Braedon Cooke and Connor Somerville (BER) 2-0 (21-6, 21-8). Rahnavard/Gannett (CAN) finished second in the group by winning 2-0 (21-15, 21-16) against Pepe/Vargas (ESA) and 2-0 (21-15, 21-6) against Cooke/Somerville (BER).

William Rivera and Arnaldo Torres (PUR) advanced from pool D with a forfeit win over Honduras and a 2-0 (21-13, 21-11) victory against Darnel Eudoxie and Rio Jaden Victor (LCA), who also lost 0-2 (18-21, 13-21) to Kendall Ratter and Marc Lomeli (ISV).
