Rafu and Lula honeymooning in Mazatlan
MAZATLAN, Mexico, September 14, 2013 – Roberto “Rafu” Rodriguez
and Anna Lourdes “Lula” Ramírez married recently, so the
Mazatlan Beach Volleyball Tournament is serving to the new
couple as a special occasion and place for an extended
honeymoon.
On the sand, the Puerto Rican Rafu is pairing up with Hector
Soto while the Guatemalan Lula is teaming up with María Jose
Orellana, but otherwise they are together all the time pampering
each other under the sun and the stars in the the paradisiacal
Mazatlan in western Mexico.
They met in a NORCECA tournament a couple years ago and the
magic of love at first sight worked out with the complicity of
beach volleyball, the sport they both love. They dated for a
while and finally tied the knot.
The good-looking couple happens to be also excellent athletes,
especially Rodriguez who won four gold medals in 2012 and
triumphed in the first event of 2013 in Cayman Islands and
claimed a bronze medal in the event in Toluca, Mexico.
Rodriguez’s playing career in NORCECA Circuit includes 26 medals
(6 golds, nive silvers and 11 bronzes) with different partners.
Ramirez’s successful career has been mostly associated with
tournaments in the Central American region but she has been good
enough to claim a bronze (2010) and a silver (2012) in the
NORCECA Circuit, both times playing at home.
Meanwhile, the fraternity of beach volleyball is still
celebrating and toasting for the bride and the groom who
suddenly have stopped to call each other by their old nicknames.
For the time being, Rafu and Lula have adopted the more
appropriated of “Sweetie” and “Honey”. |
