Rivera and Santiago get first victory at YOG
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 10, 2018 – Puerto Ricans
William Rivera and Randall Santiago evened their record at 1-1
in Pool D of the beach volleyball tournament of the Youth
Olympic Games on Wednesday.
The duo of Rivera and Santiago defeated William Esther and
Keemesh Namah of Mauritius 2-0 (21-10, 21-9).
Cubans Jorge Alayo ad Miguel Ayón also improved their record at
1-1 in Pool following their cruising victory over Daniel Kpovon
and Ganiow Ariyata of Togo 2-0 (21-9, 21-9).
In the Girls’ division, Mexicans Atenas Gutiérrez and Karla
Romero are now at 1-1 after defeating Valentine Munezero and
Peneloppe Musabyimana of Rwanda 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) in Pool F.
Mali Rafini and Kayla Arends of of Aruba dropped to 1-1 in Pool
F after losing to Diana Ramirez and Urimar Narvaez of Venezuela
2-0 (21-10, 21-12).
In Pool B, Adicia Burton and Ethlyne Lockhart of Dominica and
Dana Roskic and Erika Vermette of Canada suffered their second
loss in as many outings.
Maria Voronina and Mariia Bocharova of Russia crushed Burton and
Lockhart by 2-0 (21-4, 21-6) and Thamela Coradello and Ana
Carolina dos Santos of Brazil beat Roskic and Vermette by 2-0
(21-14, 21-10) |
