Rodriguez-Haddock to defend the crown in Cayman Islands
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, March 19, 2013 – Puerto Ricans
Roberto Rodriguez and Eric Haddock will have the chance to
defend their men’s crown at the fifth edition of the Cayman
Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament, the opening competition of
the 2013 NORCECA Circuit.
Rodriguez, who last year won four gold medals including two with
Haddock as his partner, has had considerable success in Cayman
Islands as he also was runner-up in 2011 with Christopher
Underwood as his teammate.
The representatives of Canada have occupied podium positions in
all four previous tournaments, including two titles one by
Martin Reader and Ray Sewell in 2010 and the other in 2011 by
Richard Van Huizen and Josh Binstock.
In the women’s division, the defending champion Bibi Candelas of
Mexico, who last year took home the gold medal playing along
with Mayra Garcia, will be on the sand of Seven Miles Beach
together with compatriot Martha Revuelta, who was runner-up in
2012 playing with Vanessa Virgen. |
