Rolando Cepeda, the Most Valuable Player in Pool P
HAVANA, Cuba, May 24, 2014 – Cuba’s team captain Rolando Cepeda
was named the Most Valuable Player of the FIVB Men’s World
Championship NORCECA Qualifying Tournament Pool P that concluded
on Saturday with his team winning the gold medal and the ticket
to Poland at Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum.
The left-hander Cepeda was also the best opposite, the best
scorer with 63 points and best server with a total of 12 aces
for an average of 0.86 per set.
Cuban players locked all but two positions in the All-Star team
announced during the closing ceremony according to the
statistics of the Volleyball Information System (VIS).
Dominicans José Miguel Cáceres and Cesar Alcantara were included
as second outside hitter and libero, respectively.
Yonder Garcia received the trophies as best receiver and best
digger and Javier Jimenez was named the first outside hitter.
Teammates David Fiel and Isbel Mesa were selected as middle
blockers while Leandro Macías was the best setter. |
