TOKYO, Japan, August 3, 2021 – Americans April
Ross and Alix Klineman advanced to the
semifinals of the women’s beach volleyball
tournament of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by
defeating Germany’s Laura Ludwig and Maggie
Kozuch 2-0 (21-19, 21-19).
In their semifinal match, Ross/Klineman will
play against Switzerland’s Anouk Vergé-Dépré and
Joana Heidrich who defeated Brazil’s Ana Paula/Rebeca
2-1 (21-19, 18-21, 15-12).
The two Canadian women’s teams of Sarah Pavan
and Melisa Humana-Paredes and Heather Bansley
and Brandie Wilkerson lost their respective
quarterfinals contests.
Pavan/Humana-Paredes lost to Australians Mariafe
Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy 2-1 (21-15,
19-21, 15-12) while Bansley/Wilkerson were
victims of Latvia’s Tina Graudina and Anastasija
Kravcenoka 2-1 (21-13, 18-21, 15-11). |
