SUVA grab Flow Volleyball wins

 

   

PORT SPAIN, Trinidad - Southern United Volleyball Academy (SUVA) had an inspirational start to their 2016 Flow Volleyball Premier League campaign on Tuesday night as both male and female teams picked up preliminary round wins when action continued at the Central Regional Indoor Sporting Arena, Chaguanas.

Against Toco Youth Volleyball Academy in the feature match, the SUVA men staged a brilliant fightback to grab a narrow 3-2  (20-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22, 15-7) victory. 

Hans Manwaring spearheaded his team’s achievement by scoring 11 points while Essiel Seecharan chipped in with 10. For Toco, Simon Blake (18) led all scorers with Daneil Williams (17) also contributing nicely. 

In the women’s equivalent, the Shurvette Williams-captained SUVA unit schooled University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-14).

SUVA’s Abby Blackman, Delana Mitchell and Shenelle Jordan all scored five points each while UTT’s Rejeanne Wallace topped her outfit with a five-point haul. 

So far, Technocrats’ Kelly-Anne Billingy has produced the best spike rate (44%) of the tournament’s females, with Glamorgan’s Reann Young (30.77%) and Billingy’s teammate, Renel Forde (28.57%) trailing closely behind. 
 

Toco’s Daneil Williams also leads the males with a commendable 50 percent spike rate, followed by teammate Simon Blake (47.37%) and Technocrats’ Nicholas Prescott (45.83%) respectively.
