San Juan del Sur pairs triumph at home
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, February 22, 2016 – The high level of game
the national pairs have been showing in beach volleyball was
confirmed during the first stage of the National Tour at the
courts of the Nicaraguan Sports Institute in Managua.
The pairs from San Juan del Sur copped the gold medals with
victories of Gerson Contreras and Denis Lopez in the men’s
division and Elia Machado and Lolette Rodriguez in the women’s
field.
Contreras/Lopez defeated Ruben Mora/Dany Lopez 2-1 (21-16,
13-21, 15-10) in the decisive match. Third place went to
Francisco Castro/Winston Calderon who defeated Miguel
Lopez/Jefferson Cascante 21-16.
Reigning champions Machado/Rodriguez successfully defended their
throne by defeating Claudia Machado/Socorro Lopez 2-0 (21-19,
21-13).
In the match for third place, siblings Heidy and Mercedes Traña
dominated Fernanda Chamorro/Anielka Alonso 21-15. |
