San Pedrito Beach to host fourth stop of NORCECA Circuit
MANZANILLO, Mexico, May 28, 2014 - The beach of San Pedrito will
host the fourth stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit
that begins on Friday.
In a press conference that took place at the Hotel Mision Colima,
on Wednesday, Colima Sports Institute Director, David
Ballesteros announced there will be a free admission for all
fans.
“This time San Pedrito Beach will host the tournament and it
will be free entrance for the people, who then can follow the
best players on the sand, from the North, Central American and
Caribbean region,” he said.
The organization of the tournament has the support of Mexico’s
National Sport Ministry (CONADE) as well as the National
Federation in coordination the NORCECA Volleyball
Confederation.
A total of 32 couples in both genders (15 in Women’s
competitions and 17 in Men’s competition) from Canada, Costa
Rica, Cuba, Curaçao, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico
Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and
Tobago and the United States among others, are expected.
Players began to arrive on Wednesday, while the stage started to
be prepared since last Monday. A stadium court, along with two
training areas, has been set at the historical point that marks
the entrance to the Port of Manzanillo.
During the announcement the Norceca Beach Volleyball Beach
Volleyball Competition Director Arnaldo Sanchez, as well as the
Norceca Beach Volleyball Delegate and former Olympic Player,
Mayra Huerta were present.
“We appreciate all the attentions of the Colima Sports Institute
for bringing back the tournament to this city,” said Huerta.
“Colima is for us an amazing host place and very important,
because we have received a great support since the first time.
The best players of the Norceca Confederation are preparing to
get a berth in the Olympics.”
Sanchez stated that “during this weekend we will have a very
good international competitions, Canada brings two teams as well
as USA and Cuba, that won the last two events in Guatemala, and
we hope everybody enjoy this tournament.” |
