Rallies at the Clemente and Preserves
Its Undefeated Record in the LVSF
SAN
JUAN, Puerto Rico, February 15, 2026. – Sunday’s matchday in the
Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) saw the Cangrejeras de
Santurce successfully defend their unbeaten record, the Leonas de
Ponce sweeping the Pinkin of Corozal in straight sets, and the
Atenienses de Manatí splitting points in a dramatic fifth set
against the Valencianas de Juncos to close out the fifth week of
action.
At
Roberto Clemente Coliseum, the Criollas de Caguas could not hold
onto a 2-0 sets lead nor a 23-20 advantage in the third, ultimately
falling in five sets to the Santurce Crabbers.
Diana Reyes scored effectively through the middle to give the
Criollas a 23-20 lead, but Caguas’ offense stalled there. Santurce
responded with a 5-0 run that included a zone-two attack by Tamara
Otene, two outside hits by Helena Grozer from zone four, a back-row
attack error by Génesis Collazo, and a block on Valeria Flores to
close the set.
In
the fifth set, Santurce opened with a commanding 4-0 run, all on
blocks, to seize decisive control. They reached match point at 14-9
with an outside attack by Otene and sealed the 15-11 victory after a
Jenaisya Moore attack went out of bounds.
Set
scores for Santurce’s win were 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-11.
The
Cangrejeras earned two points to improve to 9-0 with 24 total
points, while the Criollas collected one point to remain in second
place at 7-5 with 22 points.
Santurce’s offense was led by Helena Grozer (23 points), Tamara
Otene (21), Andrea Rangel (17), Neira Ortiz (14), and Shirley
Florian (10). For Caguas, Génesis Collazo led all scorers with 25
points, followed by Jenaisya Moore (22) and Valeria Flores (11).
In
team statistics, Santurce led Caguas 75-59 in attacks, 16-10 in
blocks, 117-112 in digs, 65-56 in receptions, and 39-22 in assists.
Caguas held the edge in service aces, 5-4.
Other Results of the Night
In
Manatí, the Atenienses (4-7, 14 points) defended home court with a
3-2 victory (17-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 15-8) over the Valencianas
de Juncos (3-9, 10 points) at Juan Aubín Cruz Coliseum.
In
Ponce, the Leonas (4-7, 11 points) dominated in straight sets, 3-0
(25-20, 25-18, 25-22), against the Pinkin de Corozal (6-5, 18
points) at Salvador Dijols Court.
LVSF
action continues Wednesday, February 18, with all six teams in
action:
- Cangrejeras de Santurce at Atenienses de Manatí – 8:30 p.m.
- Valencianas de Juncos host Leonas de Ponce – 8:30 p.m.
