Santurce preserves unbeaten record; Manatí splits

points with Juncos in the LVSF

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, February 27, 2026. – Friday’s action in the Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) featured the Cangrejeras de Santurce defending their unbeaten record with a fourth victory this season over the defending champions, the Criollas de Caguas, while the Atenienses de Manatí split points after prevailing in five sets against the Valencianas de Juncos.

At the Roger Mendoza Vidal Coliseum, Santurce collected three more points to remain undefeated in 13 outings and increase their total to 36 points after defeating Caguas in four sets (19-25, 28-26, 26-24, 25-10).

Holding a 2-1 lead in the match, Santurce stormed into the fourth set, taking the first technical timeout 8-3 thanks to a successful attack by Andrea Rangel from zone two that landed in zone one on Caguas’ side. An 8-0 run followed, capped by a kill from Tamara Otene from zone four.

The rest was history. The Cangrejeras reached set point at 24-6 with another attack that landed in zone one on the Caguas side and sealed the set and the match 25-10 with a block by Neira Ortiz on a middle attack attempt by Diana Reyes.

Santurce dominated the team statistics: 61-50 in attacks, 15-8 in blocks, 4-1 in service aces, 93-81 in digs, 45-35 in receptions, and 26-12 in assists.

Five Santurce players scored in double figures: Tamara Otene led with 20 points, followed by Helena Grozer with 19, Kara McGhee with 16, and Andrea Rangel and Neira Ortiz with 11 each.

For Caguas, which failed to earn points and now stands at 8-8 with 25 accumulated points, still in second place in the standings, Génesis Collazo scored 16 points and Jenaisya Moore added 15.

In the other match of the night, the Atenienses de Manatí defeated the Valencianas de Juncos in five sets, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24, 27-29, 15-12.

Manatí earned two points and remains in fourth place with a 6-10 record and 19 total points. The Valencianas added one point and remain in last place with a 5-10 record and 15 points.

LVSF action pauses on Saturday and concludes the seventh week on Sunday with two matches: the Criollas de Caguas host the Pinkin de Corozal, while the Cangrejeras de Santurce visit the Valencianas de Juncos.

Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
