Timothy Brewster and Kyle Friend of United
States finished first place at the V Stop of the
NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour after defeating
Andy Leonardo/Luis Garcia of Guatemala 2-0
(21-11, 21-10).
This is Brwester/Friend second gold medal in a
row, they beat Cubans Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis
Alayo at the fourt stop in Punta Cana, Dominican
Republic.
On their way to gold, Brewster/Friend beat
compatriots Paul Lotman/Raffe Paulis 2-0 (21-18,
21-14) in semifinals, held on Saturday due to
bad weather forecast due to Hurricane Julia
arriving in Nicaragua.
Leonardo/García repeat the silver medal won in
the 2019 NORCECA Tour here in Managua, when they
lost to a Cuba. Guatemalans improve from the
past stop in Punta Cana, where they finished
sixth.
Nicaraguan Denis Lopez and Ruben Mora, reach the
NORCECA podium once again, winning the bronze
medal to Loman/Paulis of United States 2-0
(21-15, 21-16).
Matches for positions 5 to 12 were suspended due
to bad weather. |
