Second victory for Puerto Rico
HAVANA,
Cuba, March 19, 2013
- Puerto Rico
grabbed its second win by
easily defeating
Costa Rica in
straight sets (25-9, 25-5,
25-11) on Tuesday in
Group B of the
Women's U-20 Pan American Cup.
In
the match that lasted
just 61 minutes,
Daly Santana
and Pilar Victoria
were the top scorers
for the winners with
17 and 11 points
respectively.
Eladio
Vargas, coach of
Costa Rica, said
that in six weeks
you can’t achieve the
preparation of
an event of this level.
"Then
we must make good use of
this international
exposure to attend
next year with more
experience, but first
you have to win the
classification in
Central America," he
said.
Carlos Cruz, de coach of Puerto Rico, was
pleased because his players
were more focused
than when they won over Chile on
Monday. "They minimized
errors and did damage
to their opponents
with the service, making
the game to flow."
Santana,
the Puerto Rican
captain, praised the
overall consistency
with the pass.
"It was a good
game for us,” she said. |
