SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 6, 2015 – Debora Seilhamer of
Lancheras de Cataño, claimed her fifth title as libero player of
the year in the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League after
finishing the regular season as leader in the category.
Seilhamer topped all liberos with a 9.81 percentage and was also
leader in digs with 534 for an average of 6 per set besides
finishing second in reception.
The native of Ponce has won the recognition as best libero three
of the last four seasons. She was also libero of the year in
2008 and 2009 playing for the Mayaguez Indians and 2012 and 2014
for Cataño.
“Obviously I feel plenty of satisfaction and pride, glad and
grateful to all whom have contributed to my development as
libero in all these years,” Seilhamer said. “I think my
experience at the position has helped in my job in both
reception and defense.”
The Puerto Rican League’s all-time leader in digs with 4,569
began her career in 2001 with the Guayanilla Volley Girls as an
outside-hitter and was named rookie of the year.
An attorney-at-law, Seilhamer said that after 14 seasons in the
league every year gets tougher to arrive to the court after a
day at work.
“At this stage of my career I have to manage the physical and
mental wearing after a day at my office, but the experience and
training help to forget about that once you get into the court
to do the job for the team.” |
