Players from 10 countries to compete at Rosarito Beach
BAJA CALIFORNIA, Mexico, September 15, 2011 - A total of ten
countries and 20 couples will participate at the Norceca Beach
Volleyball Circuit that starts on Friday in Rosarito Beach.
The last stop, played in Manzanillo was won by Mexico in both
genders. Mexican teams lead the circuit with a total of 1020
points in the women’s group, while in Men’s group the host
country has registered 1120 after six dates.
Players from every delegation attended to the preliminary
enquiry on Wednesday prior to the beginning of the tournament,
as well as the general technical meeting that was held at the
“Americas” Ball Room of the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
Some of the players shared their impressions before the start of
the competition:
Lourdes Ramírez (Guatemala): “We are very happy to be
here. We are going to have a new experience on the beach. We had
played here previously but at the High Performance Center, and
now it will play with more teams”.
Erick Garrido (Guatemala): “We had a good result in
Manzanillo. This will be my third time here in Baja and I think
this will be also a great tournament with good level”.
Christopher Undewood (Puerto Rico): “We expect to have a
good tournament. We will try to give our best to get the best
result as possible”.
Yamileska Yantin (Puerto Rico): “We are the second team
of Puerto Rico, and even though We have been practicing since
may, we have improved a lot and we will enjoy this tournament”.
Elki Phillip (Trinidad and Tobago): “This is my second
time, I am very excited, and we hope to have good matches and a
good place to finish”.
Fabien Whitfield (Trinidad and Tobago): “This is a nice
place to be. I think this will be like a practice for us, and we
hope to improve at this tournament”.
Brian Monge (Costa Rica): “We expect to advance as much
as we can, last tournament we had the chance to have a good
performance, and finish on the top four”.
Valeria Valenciano (Costa Rica): “We are starting in an
experience like this, may be we will be a little nervious, but
we hope to have a good participation and will try to enjoy it”.
Marc Lomeli (US Virgin Islands): “This is a year in wich
the US Virgin Islands Volleyball is more active in the Norceca
beach tournaments, we expect to be able to compete in a higher
level and to make it further in a near future”.
Kristina Vlcek / Rebecca Billings (Canada): “This is our
last tournament of the season, we hope to play well and finish
with a medal in it”.
Mayra García (Mexico): “It is good to be back at home,
and we hope to have a lot of fans supporting us, this will be a
great stop in our preparation for Pan Am Games”.
Aldo Miramontes (Mexico): ”I am happy to be here, this is
like a second home for us. Fortunately things went well last
week in Colima and won the stop there, and we expect to win here
too”.
David Vargas (El Salvador): “Two years ago I was very
pleased to play here, I like to be at this stop, now we will
play by the beach, the strong couple is Mexico with Aldo and
Juan, but we expect to have a good result”.
