Bethania De la Cruz was selected the MVP
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, September 17, 2011 – Dominican Bethania De
la Cruz was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the NORCECA
Women’s Volleyball Championship after leading her team to the
silver medal and also to a berth in the upcoming FIVB World Cup
in Japan next November 4-17.
De la Cruz’s teammate Brenda Castillo took home the trophies as
best digger, best receiver and best libero.
Veterans Logan Tom and Lindsay Berg, of gold medal winners USA,
received the awards as Best Server and Best Setter respectively.
Canadians Sarah Pavan and Marisa Field won the recognition as
Best Scorer and Best Blocker while Cuba’s Yanelis Santos was the
Best Spiker.
Hugh McCutcheon, the coach of USA, received the Eugenio George
Lafitta Award as the best coach.
