Trinidad & Tobago defeats St. Lucia
MAYAGÜEZ, Puerto Rico, September 2, 2011.- Trinidad
& Tobago defeated St. Lucia 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-17) in the
classification for fifth to eighth places of the Men’s NORCECA
Championship held on Friday.
A Caribbean battle that despite Trinidad & Tobago prevailed over
St. Lucia, it was anybody’s game. The winners with a high 9-3 in
aces, and a 4-2 win-loss record will look for the fifth place of
the championship.
The best scorer for Trinidad & Tobago was their captain Nolan
Tash with 13 points as well as Simon Blake with 11. For St.
Lucia, Jason Octave was the leader with 11 points.
“We were much better today, whatever the result we felt
confident even though Octave lead St. Lucia’s attack very well”
said Nolan Tash, Trinidad & Tobago’s captain.
Octave Jason wasn’t pleased with today’s outcome, “anyway we
kept trying, we still were downed by their tough blocking and
they were more consistent.”
Gideon Dickson, the winner’s coach “St. Lucia has improved from
the last time we met, and even if there’s just a small portion
of sea that keeps us a part, we aren’t able to play more
frequently; we both need to play more at this level.”
“A couple of bad passes and their strong blocks caused us the
match” coach Kendall Charlery for St. Lucia. |
