Coach of Dominican Republic
planning for World Championship in Japan
TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico, September 20, 2010 –
Brazilian Marcos Kwiek, coach of Dominican Republic National
Team, is using the Women’s Final Four Cup as a test laboratory
to put together the best possible team for the upcoming FIVB
World Championship in Japan next October and November.
Kwiek used different sides during the Central
American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, where the
Dominicans won the gold medal, and in the FIVB World Grand Prix
where they finished in eighth place.
“Our purpose is to win but we are also trying to
put together the best possible team for the upcoming World
Championship,” Kwiek said in the press conference before the
start of the Final Four Cup.
Coaches of Argentina, Mexico and Peru also
expressed their points of view and goals during the meeting with
the press. Here follow some excerpts of their statements:
Horacio Bastit (ARG):
“We have had some changes in this team because some of our
players have migrated to Europe, and at this time we have a very
young team.”
Marcos Kwiek (DOM):
“As in every competition, you come to win and to be champions
and that is our purpose. We are trying to put together our ideal
team for the World Championship, and this tournament will help
us on achieving the goal”.
Jose Alfredo Bernal (MEX):
“This tournament represents a great opportunity for us to
play against the best classified teams in their respective
events. To be in Chiapas is also very important, because it is a
chance to support the national sports and we are here to enjoy
the tournament at its best”.
Kim Choel Yong (PER):
“I am very happy to be here at the Chiapas 2010 Final Four Cup.
We will try to do our best to play a very fun and spectacular
game”. |
