Dominican Republic defeats Argentina 3-1
TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, México, September 22nd 2010.— Dominican
Republic recovered from the loss against Peru and defeated
Argentina 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 25-22, 27-25).
The Caribbean ladies and the South Americans faced a very tight
start on the net, but the team coached by Marcos Kwiek had a
fast recovery to win the first set.
Argentina also tried to get back from behind and did it
succesfully in the second one by winning it and tying the match
1-1. Josefina Fernandez showed a spectacular reception that
turned on the argentinan vibe.
However the Dominicans took the advantage for a 2-1 score,
forcing a fourth set in which Argentina fell short to win.
“We doubted in the definition of that set and this was a very
wierd match, there were some moments that were good for us, and
not so”, said coach Bastit.
“We are in a transition process with our team. There were
mistakes on both sides of the net, we made mistakes, they made
mistakes but in the end the match was very attractive for the
fanatics, because we played very tightly”, stated coach Kwiek.
“We improved our level and played much better than in the first
match, we struggled a little bitt at the end of the second and
third sets, they were too physycal, but we have worked hard on
that”, said the Dominican Captain, Karla Echenique.
Meanwhile, Antonela Curatola, the argentinan captain said: “We
started very well even though there were some problems with our
service, but failed in our game volume”. |
