Serbia downs Dominican Republic
CONEGLIANO VENETO, Italy, May 29, 2019 – Serbia scored a
convincing victory over Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-18, 18-25,
25-12, 25-19) in a match of pool play at the Women’s Volleyball
Nations League.
The world top ranked Serbia improved to 3-2 while the 10th
ranked Dominican Republic dropped to 2-3 after winning their
first two matches against Russia and Brazil.
Ana Bjelica led Serbia with 24 points as the best of four
players who reached double digits in the scoring charts.
Katarina Lazovic contributed 16 points of her own while Mina
Popovic and Jelena Blagojevic each had 13 points.
Brayelin Martínez had 16 points as the best Dominican scorer and
Bethania de la Cruz and Gaila Gonzalez each had 7 points.
On Thursday’s action, Serbia plays against host Italy while
Dominican Republic clashes with United States. |
