Six Men’s Teams Go Undefeated
Through Two Matches
on Day One of the 2025 NORCECA Tour
Finals
JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic, December 12, 2025. –
Six men’s teams—representing the Dominican Republic, Belize, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Canada—closed out day one of the
2025 NORCECA Beach Tour Finals with perfect 2-0 records, setting the
stage for decisive matchups on Saturday at Juan Dolio Beach.
Local favorites Hayerling De Jesús and Melvin De
Jesús, along with Belize’s Francis Hauze and Edgar Martínez, will
battle for first place in Pool A after both duos delivered dominant
performances.
The Dominican pair swept Tao Blanc/Rodolphe-Emmanuel
of Martinique 2-0 (21-12, 21-4) and later overpowered Zendai
Richards/Julian Bristol of St. Kitts & Nevis 2-0 (21-8, 21-12).
Hauze/Martínez also remained flawless, defeating Richards/Bristol
2-0 (21-14, 21-19) and Tao/Rodolphe-Emmanuel 2-0 (21-11, 21-10).
In Pool B, Managua champions Christopher and Yoel
Guardado of El Salvador and Guatemala’s Edgar Maldonado/José
Izaguirre stayed unbeaten after strong showings against duos from
Panama and Grenada.
The Guardado twins earned wins of 2-0 (21-8, 21-10)
over Kibose Hamilton/Zerick Walcott of Grenada and 2-0 (21-14,
21-11) against Panama’s Victor Araúz/Adamit Del Cid. Maldonado/Izaguirre
opened with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-8) victory over Panama and then posted
a commanding 2-0 (21-6, 21-12) win over Grenada.
Mexico’s Inés Vargas Lares and Carlos Ayala topped
Pool C with two solid victories. They defeated Cairon Davis/Miguel
Lugo of Antigua 2-0 (21-7, 21-8) and earned a key win over Puerto
Rico’s Richard Timm/José González 2-0 (21-16, 21-14). Also in the
pool, Venezuela’s Enyenser Delgado and Carlos Rivero swept Timm/González
2-0 (21-18, 21-12) to start their campaign strong.
In Pool D, Canada’s experienced duo Samuel Schachter
and Jonathan Pickett had a flawless opening day, taking their first
match against Damian Gómez/Eblis Veranes from Cuba 2-0 (21-16,
21-18) before cruising to a 2-0 (21-0, 21-3) win over Mayer/Tyler
Penberthy from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Mayer/Penberthy entered that
match coming off an exhausting 2-1 (21-15, 13-21, 15-13) battle
against Americans Evan Cory/Derek Bradford.
Cuba rebounded later in the session, securing a
valuable 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 15-10) victory over Cory/Bradford to
keep their hopes alive.
Pool play continues Saturday in Juan Dolio, followed
by the quarterfinals, where teams will battle for top positions
heading into Sunday’s medal round. |
