Solís/Cascante of Nicaragua win Gold at Central American U21 Beach Volleyball Championship

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 3 2021.- Carlos Solísand Cristopher Cascante of Nicaragua won the gold medal at the XIII U21 Central American Beach Volleyball Championship undefeated over twin brothers Christopher and Yoel Guardado of El Salvador 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) on Sunday in Guatemala City.

This is Nicaragua’s third consecutive gold, first for Cristopher Cascante and Carlos Solís; in the past edition Cristopher won the silver medal with Sergio Cordero.

In semifinals Solís/Cascante defeated Julián Araya/Jhostin Varela (CRC 2) by 2-0 (22-20, 21-12), while Guardado brother left behind former champion Jefferson Cascante with  Kevin Hilario (NCA 1) by 2-0 (21-19, 21-17).

Solís/Cascante dominated El Salvador from start to finish, forcing Guardado brothers to commit many unforced errors in their attempts to recover. Solís and Cascante were a force over the net, but mostly performed with a smarter strategy.

Cristopher Cascante said “we won all our games and didn’t drop a set with confidence, with good preparation, practice matches and with a lot of support from many persons; we attacked a lot, I have difficulties with short touches”.

For Carlos Solís their victory consists in their intelligence “we dominated with a better tactic and following our coaches’ instructions, we always kept serve-passing”.

Nicaragua also won the bronze medal, with number two team of Jefferson Cascante and Kevin controlling Julian Araya/Jhostin Varela (CRC 2) by a 2-0 (21-13, 21-13) score.
