Solid wins in Men’s Beach Volleyball at Santa Marta
SANTA MARTA, Colombia, November 23, 2022.- Solid wins marked the first
day of competition in the men’s field at the I Central American and
Caribbean Sea and Beach Games at the Santa Marta Multisport Park “500
años” in El Rodadero.
Curacao and Nicaragua opened the men’s actions win victories in pool C.
Dimanche Leonard Elsevijf and Timothy Justin Van Henneigen of Curacao
beat Andreas Bump and William Shaw of the U.S. Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-9,
21-12), while Nicaraguans Cristopher and Jefferson Cascante worked
harder in the second set to overcome Joshua Persaud/Nicholas Williams of
Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 (21-8, 24-22).
Juliangel Zaid and Willian Pérez of Venezuela earned their first win in
pool B defeating Puerto Ricans Franco Roark and Lorenzo Rivera 2-0
(21-18, 13).
In pool D, Lorenzo Jn Pierre and Rio Jaden Victor of St. Lucia won 2-0
(21-15, 21-15) to Clarique Tefali Ward and Zendal Vishawn Richards of
St. Kitts and Nevis. Also, in pool D Cubans Luis Alayo and Noslen Díaz
beat Alexis Galicia and Isaías Aguirre of Mexico 2-0 (21-19, 21-15).
Colombia’s duo of Juan Noriega and Yefferson De La Hoz prevailed 2-0
(21-13, 21-19) against twins Yoel and Cristopher Guardado of El Salvador
in pool A. In the last match of the day, also in pool A, Criforth Fallas
Lobo and José Pablo Fernández of Costa Rica won 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) to
Asmond Franklyn and Enrico Louraine of St. Vincent and Grenadines.
Pool-play resumes on Thursday. The winners of each pool advance to the
quarterfinals while second and third placed teams will play the eight
finals.
