Sport Court installed in Trinidad & Tobago University

 

   

SAN FERNANDO, Trinidad and Tobago, April 23, 2015 – A volleyball Sport Court has been donated by NORCECA Confederation to the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation (TTVF) which was installed at University of  Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), San Fernando Campus. 

 

Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of the NORCECA was present at the official ceremony accompanied by Daren Ganger, Senior Manager-Sports and Recreation of UTT, Daymian Stewart, President of the TTVF, Mushtaque Mohammed, President of the NORCECA Development Commission and Francisco Cruz, UTT High Performance Coach. 

 

The Court, which is part of the Development programme of NORCECA is a drive to ensure that National Federation have a place for the training of teams and the National Federation internal development plans. 

 

Ganger indicated that a partnership arrangement will be formalized soon to conclude discussion held with the TTVF to assist with the development of athletes both educationally and technically. 

 

Mr Marte Hoffiz who is also the 1st Vice president of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) was encouraged by the relationship that was developed and pledged to facilitate the setting-up of a development centre at the University similar to that which exist with the University of Baja California, Mexico, which include the signing of a twelve year three party agreement among the UTT, TTVF and NORCECA for the establishment of a Centre in UTT.

 

He also indicated that the focus should be on the development of Physical education teachers to ensure that a strong programme of volleyball in the primary and secondary schools exists. 

 

Mohammed, indicated that approval is granted for Mr. John Kessel of USA to visit Trinidad and Tobago to conduct three workshops over an eight day period where courses in seated volleyball, beach volleyball and Volleyball in schools will be the major focus.  This program will be done in November 2015.

 

Stewart indicated that they would do their part to ensure that all that was discussed and agreed to between the UTT and TTVF will materialize, as the major beneficiary is the sport of volleyball.  Already, UTT High performance coach is assisting the TTVF with their youth and junior female teams programme. 

 

Later this year, the TTVF will receive another sport court to ensure that all the national teams will have training venues on a regular basis together with a shipment of volleyball equipment.
