St Kitts and Nevis Team One and Antigua on the double  

 

BASSETTERE: St Kitts and Nevis, Aug. 30: St. Kitts and Nevis Team One’s Julian Bristol and Vickash Sundar, as well as Antigua and Barbuda’s Khaliq Joseph and Miguel Lugo, went two wins from as many matches on day one of Men’s Pool play in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-21 Championships at the Marriot Beach.

 

In straight sets, Bristol and Sundar, beat Tariq Duncan and Damari Frederick of St.  Vincent and the Grenadines 2-0(21-15, 21-18) and had a 21-3, 21-10 win over Jason Dunkley and MaduroAlexander Wheatley of the British Virgin Islands to go perfect in Pool A.

 

Meanwhile, Joseph and Lugo top Pool C, beating St. Lucia’s Daniel Joseph and Rayquan Francis 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) but had to dig deep to ward off the St. Kitts and Nevis’ Team Three, composed of Joash Walters and Alex Lall, winning 2-1 (21-16, 16-21, 15-11).

 

In Pool B, Dominica’s Bill Frederick and Mervin Mingo defeated Bermuda’s Miley Morbey and Riley Rodriques 2-0 (21-8, 21-14), and Jedediah Pencheon and Komarr Fraites of St. Kitts and Nevis Team Two beat Morbey and Rodriques 2-1 (26-24, 19-21, 15-7).

 

Two matches in Pool D and one in Pool A, completed the day’s proceedings. Anguilla’s Trevon Smith and Shaquoy Reid recorded a 2-0 (21-6, 21-12) win over St.  Eustacius’ Zjondre De Jesus and D'Jairo Hassell, with Grenada’s Kibose Hamilton and Zerick Walcott seeing off De Jesus and Hassell, also 2-0 (21-15, 21-15).

 

And, in Pool A, Duncan/ Frederick defeated Dunkley and Wheatley, 2-0(21-8, 21-6).

Day Two commences with the remaining matches in Pool play:

 

Pool D: Hamilton/ Walcott vs De Jesus/ Hassell; Pool C: Joseph/ Francis vs Walters/ Lall; Pool B: Frederick/ Mingoo vs Pencheon/ Fraites.

 

Thereafter, are the playoff matches featuring the crisscrossing of the final placing of the four pools, followed by the losers to determine the minor places.
