St Lucia up with another win over Saba
ST. JOHN’s, Antigua and Barbuda, August 23, 2019: St Lucia
made it two wins from as many matches, when they outshone
Saba 3-0( 25- 9, 25-4, 25-15), in match three of the Eastern
Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-20 Female
Volleyball Tournament, here at the YMCA Sporting Complex.
In a match that lasted 54 minutes, the lone double figure
scorer for St Lucia was Clio Phillip, who had 13 points.
Again, Saba’s Captain – Lyiesha Peterson, led her team’s
scoring with 3 points.
In other statistics, St Lucia won on Spikes 10-3 and Serves
34-5.
St Lucia also benefitted from 29 errors committed by Saba.
In turn, Saba was gifted 20 errors from St Lucia.
For St Lucia’s Head Coach- Terry Verdant, it was a plan that
came together.
“We just wanted to get the ball over and service and that
happened”, Verdant responded.
“This match served us with good practice for our upcoming
match against Antigua and Barbuda as we want to keep in the
vein of winning”, he added.
Verdant’s opposite number- Germaine Zimmerman continued to
heap praise on her players.
“I can’t fault my players for their effort given their
inexperience at this level… It is a challenge for us, but we
are going keep going on”, Zimmerman commented.
For the St Lucia Captain- Amalia Louis,” It was a good match
for us, as my players keep improving in their play”.
Louis disclosed that they are bracing for the test against
host Antigua and Barbuda.
And, staying positive despite her team’s second defeat,
Captain of Saba – Lyiesha Peterson, promised to regroup and
come stronger against Bermuda.
