St. Eustatius earns a hard fought bronze medal

MARIGOT, St. Martin, October 30, 2016 - 25 -14; 25 -11; 25 - 6; was the score as St. Eustatius soundly defeated Saba to secure their first medal in a regional tournament.  St. Eustatius was the more composed, as they attacked and defended in a seamless fashion. Sjahrisia Hook peppered Saba with a variety of spikes and produced nineteen points.

Though team Saba was out powered, her players gave a good account of themselves.  They clawed and scratched their way to remain in the game.  Eventually, they succumbed to the greater force.  Despite this, Joy-Ann Robinson stood contributed the most points to her team.

St. Eustatius’s Captain Robins and Coach Henriquez were elated to have won the bronze medal but are of the opinion more improvement is needed to advance in these tournaments.  Both complemented the play of their opponents.

Coach Spence and Captain Berkel of Saba noted the change in demeanor as the game progressed.  They indicated the team needs to grow into the game and adapt faster to circumstances and remain confident in their skills.
