St. Martin clinches spot in the finals after a sound testing
from St. Eustatius
MARIGOT, St. Martin, October 30, 2016 - St. Martin with stood
the relentless onslaught of St. Eustatius to produce a
spectacular victory, with a score of 25- 22; 25-18; 25- 20. The
unstoppable force of Jacqueline Hodge ruled the middle with an
iron fist. She scored fifteen points and produced eleven
blocks. The Phoenix well aware of what was at stake, remained
well composed with sound passing and brilliant setting.
St. Eustatius did not shy away from the offense of their
opponents but instead countered with a strong defensive shield.
Consequently they were able to keep the scores very close.
However, as the game progressed fatigue showed its head but the
ladies fought on. The main scorers for the team were Hook and
Rivers with five points each.
Both teams displayed a tremendous amount of respect for each
other. Coach Legras and Captain Damaseau of St. Martin were
succinct in stating the team played a solid game and the
opposition produced a stellar performance. Coach Henriquez and
Captain Lopes Robins were satisfied with their efforts and have
seen the evolution of the team. However the captain indicated
due to fatigue the team fell out of system but it was a great
learning experience. |
