Strong
level of play marks opening day of the III U-17 Central American
Beach Volleyball Championship
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, May 1, 2026.-
El
Salvador’s Fátima Rendón/Dévora Medina got off to a strong start in
their campaign at the III AFECAVOL U-17 Central American Beach
Volleyball Championship, earning a convincing 2-0 (21-11, 21-7)
victory over Honduras’ Miley Rodríguez/Valeria Acosta at the Beach
Sports Stadium in San Salvador.
Rendón/Medina made it clear they are serious contenders to defend
the gold medal they won at the previous edition of the event, held
in 2024 in Costa Rica.
In
the girl’s division, another team that boosted its hopes of
contending for top honors was Daniela Campos/Fátima Reina, who
defeated Nicaragua’s Kimberly Silva/Abdi Narváez 2-0 (21-15, 21-16).

On
the boy’s side, Guatemala’s Joseph Godoy/Josué Rodríguez had a
positive start, defeating El Salvador’s Abdiel Anzora/Mario Baires
2-0 (21-13, 21-17).
Meanwhile, Nicaragua’s Justin Dinarte/Mattew Kempf opened strongly
as well, beating Honduras’ Osman García/Jonathan Ortega 2-0 (21-18,
21-17).
The
second day of the III U-17 Central American Beach Volleyball
Championship will determine the final standings for the medal
matchups.
In
the girl’s division, Nicaragua will face El Salvador in a key match
at 9:00 a.m., followed by Guatemala against Honduras. Starting at
1:00 p.m., El Salvador closes its schedule against Guatemala,
followed by Nicaragua taking on Honduras.
In
the boy’s division, Guatemala faces Honduras at 9:00 a.m., followed
by Nicaragua versus El Salvador. In the afternoon, Guatemala closes
its schedule against Nicaragua at 1:00 p.m., followed by Honduras
against El Salvador. |
