Successful Conclusion to the 2023 ECVA Congress in St. Kitts

St. KITTS, December 11, 2023.- The 2023 Congress of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) reached a successful conclusion on Sunday at the St Vincent Meeting Room at the St Kitts Marriott. Delegates convened for insightful discussions, key decisions, and the election of officers, marking a momentous occasion for volleyball in the Eastern Caribbean.

One of the significant outcomes of the Congress was the unanimous approval of the addition of U19 men and women indoor editions scheduled for December 2024 in St. Maarten. This expansion signals a commitment to nurturing young talent in the region. The ECVA affirmed its support for the participating national federations, emphasizing collaboration and shared growth.

In the final session, the election of officers took place, reflecting a harmonious continuation of leadership. President Glenn Quinlan (St. Kitts & Nevis), Vice President Sabinah Clement (British Virgin Islands), Secretary General Shayne Felicien (St. Lucia), and Treasurer Wilbur Harrigan (Antigua & Barbuda) were returned unopposed. Additionally, member Elvin Henriquez (St. Eustatius) secured victory over challenger Leonardo Romeo (Sint Maarten) by an 8 - 5 vote, demonstrating the democratic process within the ECVA.

NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz administered the oath of office to the newly elected executive, emphasizing their commitment to working in the best interest of the zone without fear or favor. This moment symbolizes a new chapter in the leadership of ECVA, dedicated to advancing volleyball in the Eastern Caribbean.

To celebrate the successful conclusion of the Congress, delegates will partake in a fun event this evening. They will boat over to St. Kitts' sister island, Nevis, for a delightful dinner, fostering camaraderie and unity among the volleyball community.
