Successful Mini-Volley Tournaments in Dominican Republic
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 30, 2013 – The
Dominican National Volleyball Federation organized two
successful national tournaments of Mini-Volleyball with the
participation of boys and girls from the 32 provinces of the
country.
The event for children under 12 years old was dedicated in
memoriam of the late Miguel Cruz, former coach of the women’s
national team and technical director of the National Federation.
The award ceremony was attended by FIVB Honorary President
Jizhong Wei, FIVB First Executive Vice President and NORCECA
President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and Asian Volleyball
Confederation President Dr. Saleh Bin Nasser.
The tournaments were celebrated in two consecutive weekends at
the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center
in Santo Domingo. Each team consisted of 12 players and a total
of 768 competitors.
The first two sets of the matches were played up to 21 points
and the rest to a maximum 15 points or a two-point difference.
“It was a very successful activity and the kids really enjoyed
visiting the volleyball facilities and the opportunity to
establish new friendships, which is one of the goals of this
program,” Dominican Republic’s National Federation Ramon Garcia
