Suriname Host the 18th Caribbean Volleyball Senior
Championship
PARAMARIBO, Suriname, July 20, 2023 - Suriname will host the 18th
Caribbean volleyball championships for men and women from 21 to 31 July.
The preparations for the tournament are now in an advanced stage. Both
the men's and women's categories will start on Sunday in the Anthony
Nesty Sports Hall. Suriname is the defending champion for men and
Trinidad & Tobago for women.
President of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA),
Mohammed Mushtaque confirmed that the Surinamese Volleyball Association
(SUVOBO) is ready to organize the event after his inspection visit.
“It’s been since 2018 since we host the Cazova senior championships so
we are expecting a great event. The Suriname National Federation and the
local organizing committee are doing their best to ensure all
preparations are done to receive the teams. The hotels, training venues
and the competitions venue are been approved. Our meeting with the
government and the national Olympic committee has all pledged their
support for the event so we don’t anticipate any problems. The teams had
their challenges with funding and flight schedules but now these issues
are resolved and we anticipate an exciting event,” said the chairman of
CAZOVA.
Lionel Blokland, the chairman of SUVOBO said that Suriname is certainly
ready in terms of organization and games “The playground is almost
ready”, Blokland continues. |
