Suriname seventh place over Trinidad & Tobago at CAC Games
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, July 2, 2023.-
Suriname finished seventh place after defeating Trinidad & Tobago 3-1
(25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24) at the Men’s Volleyball tournament of the
twenty fourth Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.
Suriname in seventh place ends the event 1-3 and Trinidad & Tobago 0-4
in position eight.
Suriname was superior in points from attacks 65-46 and in aces 7-1; both
teams scored on six blocks. Suriname handed out less points from
unforced errors (6-17).
Keven Sporkslede, team captain of Suriname scored a match-high of 20
points (19 kills, one ace). Middle blocker David Pinas added 19 points
(18 kills, one block) and opposite Zefanio Brienburg contributed with 14
points (12 kills, one block, one ace).
Outside hitters Daynte Stweart and Brandon Legall led Trinidad & Tobago
with 19 points and 13 points respectively.

“I am happy, still, I wanted to win yesterday as well. For Suriname this
was a good tournament, they learned a lot which for me is the most
important thing. In the future we are going to perform better because
they know the level of play at the Central American Games”.

“We started a bit too late, and the momentum was on Suriname’s side. We
know what to work on, we have two weeks ahead of our Senior Zonal
Championship and we will get it right”. |
